Which country has been the largest contributor of humanitarian assistance in 2017? #Turkey's #EnterprisingandHumanitarianForeignPolicy TR Info Center ... Daha fazlaDaha az

TURKEY SPARES NO EFFORT TO HELP SYRIANS
    #GirişimciveİnsaniDışPolitika #EnterprisingandHumanitarianForeignPolicy

Turkey currently has the largest refugee population in the world, with over 4 million people. Around 3,5 million of them are Syrians who had to flee from war, violence and desperate conditions in their homeland.
Turkey, in the face of the human tragedy in Syria, is sparing no effort to make these desperate people live in dignity and to alleviate the devastating impact of being forced to leave their country.
Out of the approximately 3,5 million registered Syrian refugees in Turkey, some 180.000 people are hosted in 20 camps administered by the Directorate General of Migration Management.
The rest of the Syrians live in cities. Every single Syrian is under the temporary protection regime of our Government. This regime provides basic services such as health and education.
Since January 2016, more than 50.000 work permits have been issued for Syrians. We promote their participation in the local economy legally.
The number of Syrians aged 0-18 is around 1,4 million. These numbers are higher than the population of some European countries. The number of the Syrian children born in Turkey alone exceeded 300 thousand.
For us, education of the Syrian children is of crucial importance since they will be the ones to rebuild their country. As of August 2018, there are approximately 976.000 school-age Syrian children in Turkey and around 620.000 of them can attend school.
School enrollment ratio among Syrians in Turkey has reached to 65% in 2017-2018 school year. It was around 30 % in 2016. Currently around 20 thousand Syrians pursue higher education in Turkey.
So far, including municipalities and Turkish NGOs, Turkey has spent around 32 billion US Dollars, whereas the total contribution we received from the international community is far from meeting the expectations (1.95 billion Euros has been reached so far under the EU Facility for Refugees in Turkey - FRIT).
In addition to the efforts of the Turkish government, local authorities and communities in Turkey have also extended great generosity to the Syrians.
Needless to say, our ultimate objective is to create the conditions for Syrian people voluntarily to return home.
The Turkish Red Crescent together with the World Food Programme (WFP) launched the food e-card system for the Syrians in the camps in Turkey in 2012. Each family receives a card that works like a debit card, as mentioned earlier. These cards are automatically uploaded twice a month. Each upload is 50 Turkish Liras (approximately 7.20 Euros) per person. It is now used in 11 camps by over 140.000 people.
Everyone visiting the camps admits how effective and efficient this system is in helping people to normalize their lives.
Most of the Syrians have been dispersed throughout Turkey and have a high degree of integration with the Turkish society. As this is the case, the Emergency Social Safety Net Programme (ESSN), which is another card system to cover the Syrians living out of the camps in Turkey, was launched by the Turkish Red Crescent, the Ministry of Family and Social Policies and the World Food Programme in November 2016.
The Emergency Social Safety Net project, which is being conducted with contribution of WFP has been not only successful, but by reaching more than 1 million Syrians and other refugees, it has been an exemplary endevaour.
