I was wondering if you might want to tell your members about a 10-day program the Center for Middle Eastern Studies is running to Bosnia-Herzegovina in fall. I thought you might be interested because Bosnia has been shaped by – and still celebrates – its long association with the Ottoman Empire. It is a truly fascinating place. The trip will be led by an historian (me!), who is always happy to share about Bosnia’s unique history. We will see many Ottoman bridges and other architectural masterpieces, get a private viewing of the Sarajevo Haggadah (a fabulous book brought by Jews who settled in Sarajevo after their expulsion from Spain, and have the opportunity to visit some Ottoman-era (19th century) homes.
